Horizons Unlimited has a reputation for delivering safe, fun, educational and hassle free outdoor education programmes. We understand that teachers already have a lot on their plates. Our experienced team are happy to assit you in the preperation, delivery and clean up of your programme.

Qualified Outdoor Education Staff
We understand that the success of our Outdoor and Adventure Education programmes depends on the quality of our staff. At Horizons Unlimited we employ a team of experienced and enthusiastic facilitators and outdoor instructors. With many years of experience under their belts, our team hold a variety of New Zealand Outdoors Instructor Association (NZOIA) Level 1 and 2 awards and Ropes Course Facilitators certificates. Our Outdoor Education Staff also hold Risk Management, Outdoor First Aid (or Pre Hospital Emergency Care) and 4098 (Assessment Unit Standard) qualifications.

Our team will be familiar with the areas you wish to work in and will work with you to design and deliver a successful programme.

Help with Organisation (the added extras!)
Booking vans and venues, organising food and outdoor equipment and writing gear lists to send home all take a lot of time. Let us take care off these tasks for you. At Horizons Unlimited we can deliver the full ‘package’.

Our team can pick your students up from school on day one, the food and equipment loaded and ready to go. After delivering your tailored programme at a venue of your choice we’ll return the students safe, sound and often sleepy, before disappearing again with the rubbish!

Safety Management Support
At Horizons Unlimited we recognise our responsibility for the health and safety of our employees and our clients. Our Safety Management System complies with the HSE Act (1992) and meets current industry requirements. We specialise in the development and audit of Safety Management Systems for other Adventure Industry operators

On confirmation of your programme Risk Analysis Forms for you selected activities will be sent to your school.

  • We will collect and check (and action) medical consent forms.
  • Staff are recruited according to specific competencies, trained, inducted and supervised.
  • While in the field our delivery team will have access to emergency support and assistance at all times
  • Further documentation (Horizon Unlimited’s Safety Management Plan) can be viewed at any time

Ministry of Education Programmes - LEOTC
Horizons are proud to offer Learning Experiences Outside The Classroom (LEOTC) Programmes with support from the Ministry of Education. These programmes are available for students in Years 6 – 11 and work within the Health and Physical Education Curriculum. Click here for more information
