• Summer Programme [Semester 1]: 15 Week Training Programme - "The GAP Year"
• Plus additional 3 - 6 month work placements & travel options afterwards - additional costs apply.
• Plus opportunity to complete the Winter Programme [Semester 2]: 12 week Winter programme further developing technical skills in a broader range of environments.

• Summer - Semester 1 (15 week programme): $4270.00 (2012 price) for New Zealand and Australian citizens. $8210 for International students - International students are eligible for a 12 week programme only.
• Winter Semester 2 (12 week programme): $3850.00 for New Zealand and Australian citizens. $8210.00 for International students.

Cost Includes: |
• All instruction, specialist equipment.
• On course travel, accommodation on trips out of Christchurch and reporting of course credits.

Horizons Unlimited has been deliverering this programme since 2002 under contract with local polytechs CPIT and SIT.
During 2010 we began redeveloping this programme for the 2011 delivery of a Level 3 Certificate standard. |
Qualifications: |
Semester 1: Horizons Unlimited Certificate of Adventure Leadership.
Plus the following industry recognised qualifications:
• First Aid & Outdoor First Aid certificates
• Risk Management Certificate
• High Ropes Course Assistant facilitator certification
• NZOIA Abseil Leader Award.
Semester 2:
• NZOIA Bush Leader Award
• NZOIA Rock Leader Award
• Ropes Course Facilitator Certificate (ACCT International Standard)
• Leave No Trace Certificate.

Prerequisites: |
Selection is based on:
• Entrants must have a minimumof 36 credits at L1, including 12 credits in English.
• Likelihood of completion
• Reasonable level of fitness - must have have participated in a minimum of 10 sessions of recreational activity in the past year
• Confidence in water and ability to swim 25m
• Suitability for employment instructing others in adventure activity
