- Plus opportunity to complete Christchurch Polytech 'Certificate in Adventure Recreation' (delivered by Horizons Unlimited) in semester 2.

- Semester 1, Level 1: $3094.80 for New Zealand and Australian citizens - for 16 week programme. $8000 approx for International students.
- Semester 2, Level 2: $3099.50 for New Zealand and Australian citizens - for 12 week programme.

Cost Includes: |
All instruction, specialist equipment.
On course travel, accommodation on trips out of Christchurch and reporting of course credits.

Horizons Unlimited has a contract with the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) to deliver the GAPYEAR Experience/Adventure Leader Programme in 2009 and 2010. During 2010 we will be redeveloping this programme for the 2011 delivery. There may be some changes to what is advertised in this website, all applicants informed of these alterations before enrolment.

Qualifications: |
Semester 1: Horizons Unlimited Certificate of Completion - Adventure Leadership Training Programme, (includes CPIT Course credits).
Plus the following industry recognised qualifications:
- First Aid Certificate
- Risk Management Certificate
- Surf Bronze Medallion (optional)
- Ropes Course Facilitators Certificate
Semester 2: CPIT Certificate in Adventure Recreation (Level 4)

Prerequisites: |
Selection is based on:
- entrants must have a minimumof 36 credits at L1, including 12 credits in English.
- likelihood of completion
- reasonable level of fitness- must have have participated in a minimum of 10 sessions of recreational activity in the past year
- confidence in water and ability to swim 25m
- suitability for employment instructing others in adventure activity
