School Leadership Programmes
Short programmes (1 or 2 days) for senior school students that focus on providing an understanding of, and the opportunity to practice, simple leadership concepts and skills. When partnered with increasing responsibility at school - these programmes can really help young people learn about the benefits and opportunities available to those who choose to take the lead.
Youth Development Programmes
By taking part in challenging outdoor experiences young people have the opportunity to step out of their normal environment and to realise that they have unlimited potential. They stretch themselves emotionally, intellectually and physically, within an environment of acceptance, support and trust. Then with the help of staff and their peers, they reflect upon their experiences and make meaning of them.
Outcomes can include greater self-awareness, self-esteem and self-confidence, and the development of value systems and of social skills including:

- the ability to learn from experience through reflection.
Outdoor Pursuits Instruction
We can provide qualified instructors in a variety of outdoor pursuits, including:
- Rock Climbing

- Mountain Skills/ Alpine based programmes.

Horizons Unlimited manage the Christchurch Challenge Ropes Course - a facility that is ideally suited to the development of communication skills, team support, openness to challenge and the self confidence to reach for higher goals. Our ropes course based programmes include:
Personal and Team Development
Through carefully sequenced activities and timely reviews, individuals and teams can be challenged, explore their self-imposed limitations, and practice effective behaviours and skills.
Leadership Training
Practical activities combined with a theoretical foundation provide an ideal opportunity for developing leaders to build their understanding of, and strategies for, effective leadership.
We can also provide consultancy on all aspects of building and/or managing a ropes course facility, and provide Challenge Ropes Course Facilitation training programmes (all to the international ACCT standard).
